Today was quite stressful. I got up early to write an essay that was due today. In Cross Country practice, I felt like crap, and when I got home from school, or rather practice, I moved my mouse, and my monitor did not come on.

My computer would not respond. I even tried to get to my computer through the network, but it was unresponsive with no output or input capabilities. When I turned it off then on again, it would not read the disk. I tried messing with the switches, but that didn't work. Then I started swapping out hardware with an identical computer (my dad bought 3 at the time back in 1999) to find out which piece was broken. I narrowed it down to the piece that has the PCI slots on it, and ruled out a power surge via the network card (that had happened to the file server a while ago). I put the computer back to gether with the original parts minus the modem, and it worked as if nothing had happened other than the CMOS being reset.

All that I did was take it apart to very small pieces, and put it back together, and it worked. This happened to me another time also; at Calvary Christian School (the school where I spent grades 6 to 9), there was a stereo system with a 5 cd changer that they were throwing away because no sound was comming out of it. I decided to take it rather than let them throw it away. I took it apart to the smallest piece, put it back together again, and it worked perfectly. I still have it in my room today, and it still work. This type of situation does seem pretty odd.

I just visited the Opera website, and discovered that they went free. Now, in my mind, there is no dispute about which browser is the best available. Opera!

Since school has started, I have had almost zero free time. I have lots of homework, and I am on the Cross Country team. Between the two, and work my schedule is pretty full. I have gotten somewhat used to my braces. They are still a pain to brush, but they don't bother me too much during the day. I have added one assignment to my website, but I won't link to it yet because I haven't figured out a naming scheme for my homework assignments yet.

I finally got some hosting for cyberpear. I purchased hosting from Host Affection. They had a plan for $15 / year which is a good deal. They even include shell access. I don't have much experience with a unix shell, but I intend to learn. So far, I have figured out "ls", "cd ", and "head " to navigate directories, and to see the first part of files. The plan also includes 2 add on domains free.

I got my braces put on today after school. They are quite annoying, and even at times painful, but I will stop complaining.

Today was the first day of school. I have one class with my sister -- Biology. The day was kind of chaotic in that everyone was figuring out how everything is supposed to work, and finding the way around the place. I haven't yet found anyone who has the same lunch period as me who I know and desire to sit with. The people (or person, as the case may be) who I consider "cool" don't have the same lunch period as me. I do hope that I can find an interesting friend to sit with at lunch. I had homework in each of my classes. As I may have mentioned in previous posts, it appears that I have a very difficult year ahead of me.

Well, school starts tomorrow; I'm not thrilled about going back, but I suppose going to a new school will be at least a little interesting. I don't have my computer class until the second semester (February), so I will be a little bored. As you know (if you happen to read my blog), I have been messing around with my website this summer. I have gotten a lot done with it internally, but not much content. I plan to publish my homework assignments. I have decided to do this because the one assignment that I posted last year generated quite a few search engine hits. Well, it's getting late, and I have school in the morning, so I will call it a night.

By the way, I got the images page fixed. I was made aware that it was returning a 404 Not Found error there for a while. It is fixed, and you can now see photos of me.

I am currently attempting to figure out (or rather find) information on the HTTP size or content-size, whichever it is. On the W3C Validator page, it will display some of the information sent by the server. Some pages of my site don't send the content-size header, and others do. I am trying to find out why this is, and to correct it.
