MIT and College
I just heard back from MIT, my first choice for college. They rejected me, saying, "we are unable to offer you admission to MIT." I have a feeling that my school never sent out the mid-year grade report, and that that had something to do with it. If that is the case, I will be pretty angry. I have no idea where I am going to go. Stanford is the only other school that rejected me. I have been accepted to Georgia Tech, RPI, Virginia Tech, and George Mason University. I have also been accepted to four service academies: the Naval Academy, Military Academy, Air Force Academy, and the Coast Guard Academy. I don't know where I am going to go. I am deeply disappointed that I didn't make it into MIT.

I'd consider the USCGA if you are interested in engineering with a nautical bent, marine/environmental science, a small school (very high teacher/student ratio), and are willing/able to deal with 'military stuff'.

I know you're disappointed about not getting to MIT. I can't blame you. But the schools that accepted you aren't so bad.
Maybe you'll be able to transfer to MIT in your Junior year or maybe you can do your masters or doctoral work there.

hey, it's Alice, one of your future classmates. I was rejected from my first choice school as well.
Don't feel bad! You're still smart! :D the competition is just really really tight.
I never knew that a rejection letter could be a good thing. It was after I was rejected from Cornell University that I applied for RPI - and I was accepted!!
So far I'm meeting lots of nice ppl and I'm sure we're all gonna have a blast. I look forward to meeting you & seeing you there! :)
